Why garages miss calls
Your hands are under a car
The phone rings when you are halfway through a brake job. By the time you wipe your hands, the caller has gone to the next garage on the map.
Drivers need an answer today
A car that makes a noise, or will not start, cannot wait. The garage that answers and offers a drop-off time gets the job.
"Is my car ready?" calls
Status calls interrupt the work. The agent takes the customer's name and the car, and sends you a message, so you can reply when you are out from under it.
Details are lost between the phone and the bay
A mumbled make and model on a voicemail costs a wrong part. Every call arrives as a written summary with the car, the problem and a number to call back.
Example call to Eastside Auto
- Assistant: Hi, you've reached Eastside Auto. I'm an AI assistant. How can I help?
- Caller: My car's making a grinding noise when I brake.
- Assistant: That's worth checking soon. What make, model and year is the car?
- Caller: It's a 2017 Honda Civic.
- Assistant: Thanks. We can look at it on Thursday if you drop it off at 8:00. Shall I book that, and may I have your name?
- Caller: Yes, Chris Avery.
- Assistant: You're booked, Chris: a brake inspection for your Civic on Thursday at 8:00. We'll call you with a quote after we've looked.
- Brake inspection booked: Thursday 8:00
- Vehicle: 2017 Honda Civic
- Alert sent to the shop by text message
What it does for a garage
Books drop-offs and inspections
Checks your calendar and books the slot straight into Google Calendar or Outlook, with the car and the problem in the booking.
Takes the details of the car and the fault
Asks for the make, model, year and what is wrong, and puts it all in a written summary, so you know what you are walking into.
Answers questions about your services
Opening hours, the work you do and the work you do not, tire fitting, MOT or inspection slots and your callout area. If a question is not covered, it takes a message.
Gives only the prices you give it
It can quote the figures you provide, such as an inspection fee, and says plainly that other prices depend on the car. It does not make up numbers.
Calls customers back
Places reminder calls for bookings and service reminders. Anyone who asks not to be called again is never called again.
Alerts you where you already look
Text message, WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Microsoft Teams or email, sent when a call ends, and a Google Sheet that lists every job.
Questions from auto repair shops
Can it give a quote over the phone?
Only the figures you give it, such as a fixed inspection fee or a price list for common jobs. For anything else it takes the car and the problem and tells you, so you can quote.
What about breakdowns and roadside calls?
It cannot send a tow truck. You can tell it to give your recovery partner's number, to transfer urgent calls to your mobile, or to point callers in danger to the emergency services.
Does it connect to my garage management software?
It has no direct link to garage management systems today. It books into Google Calendar and Outlook, and other tools connect through Zapier, Make and n8n.
Can I run it with a small team?
Yes. Many garages are two or three people. Pay as you go has no monthly fee, so a quiet month costs only the minutes used.
Will customers know it is an AI?
Yes. It says so in its first sentence on every call, and it will tell anyone who asks. It never pretends to be a person.
How much does it cost for a garage?
Pay as you go is $0.20 a minute with no monthly fee. A busier shop can use Small ($59 a month, 300 minutes included) or Medium ($249 a month, 1,500 minutes included). Each phone number is $1 a month, and the first 60 minutes are free.
